About Newcastle Museum

Newcastle's new Museum opened to the public on 4 August 2011. The location, just down from Central Station and next-door neighbour of jabong HQs is nothing short of iconic!
A vibrant museum that will give you all sorts of insight into our magnificent city - there isn't anything else like it anywhere else around these parts !!! The new Museum is more than just a reinvention of the original Newcastle Regional Museum, which was located in West End and founded back in 1988 as a Bicentennial project. It's an invigorated contemporary centre that brings new exhibitions and experiences while providing efficient services with sustainable design features for all visitors to enjoy!

Sometimes, you just need to get away from the hustle and bustles of life for a while. That's why our museum is open Tuesday-Sunday except during the holidays! You can enjoy free entry with your family or friends any time - no tickets are required.

What to do in Newcastle Museum

The new Museum Shop collection features a wide range of educational kids' games and toys, and local history books that are perfect for learning more about your home province or region. There's also jewellery made with proud Northumbrian gems like crystals to remind you where it all began! And if taking pictures isn't really what interests you, then there are specially designed T-shirts as well as other goodies, including clothing items too so be sure to check them out today.

They care about the environment, and they want to do our part in protecting it. That's why, when possible they stock products from local artists or Australian companies that work hard on their sustainability practices!

The Newcastle Museum offers a unique and personal experience for ceremonies or receptions with its eclectic mix of industrial design. The eight available spaces can be customised to suit your event in any way you like!
